AJMER
Ajmer, which is also famous as Ajmere, this is a largest district of Rajasthan state. This district is surrounded by the Aravalli Mountains. This city, once ruled by Prithviraj Chuhan, and that time this place also popular as Ajaymeru. At the time British province, they used to call this place Ajmer-Merwara, and after independence, it become state of Ajmer and merged into Rajasthan in 1956. This place founded in the 7th century by Ajaypal Chauhan. He constructed a fort over hill, called “Ajaymeruâ€. In 1193 Ajmer was conquered by Muhammad of Ghor, founder of Delhi Sultanate. Against the payment of heavy tribute to the conquerors, the Chauhan rulers were allowed autonomy. This district is situated in the center of the Rajasthan, and on the lower slope of the Taragarh Hill. There is an artificial lake, which is situated at the north side of city, named “Anasagarâ€, built with marble, known as Baradari. Ajmer is located on the midway between Delhi and Mumbai Highway. it is about 400km from Delhi and 135km from jaipur.

Ajmer is famous for its religious places, fairs and fort which attract tourist. Few famous places as per tourism point of view are, Pushkar- this is a holy palce for the Hindus, which is situated 11km to the north-west of Ajmer. Pushkar is mainly famous for the camel fair, which held on the month Nov in every year. Apart from this fair activity, there is a temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, which is a single temple in whole world, which is dedicated to Lord Brahma. Dargah- Ajmer city is also popular for Dargah of the great sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Ajmer has gain the epithet of “Madinatul Hind or Madina Of Indiaâ€, devotees of all religions and faiths come here.

Nasiyan Temple- this is also known as Red temple, devoted to the Digambar jain, there is also a double story hall adjacent to the main temple. The entire hall is richly adorned by glass mosaic, precious stones, gold and silver works. This place is also known as “Soniji Ki Nasiyanâ€, Salemabad (Nimbark Peeth)- this peeth is founded in 1520, and devoted to Lord Krishna. Taragarh Fort- this is famous fort in Ajmer city, has 6 gates, in this fort there is also a Dargah, devoted to Miran Saheb, this fort is situated in Nagpahari of Aravali hills. Adhi –din ka Jhonpra- this is a masterpiece, which construct within two and half days (Adhi-Din), where you can see a great mix-up of indo-islamic architecture. Ana Sagar- it is artificial late, built by Anaji Chauhan, Baradari, which is situated on the banks of this lake and built by Shah Jahan, this place built with marble and stones, Shah jahan built this to facilitate his long stay in Ajmer. , The Museum, Nareli Jain Temple- this temple situated in outskirts of the city, it spread in a long area, where one can avail authentic jain foods. and Lake Foy Sagar- this is a another picturesque artificial lake, which is situated in the outskirt of the city. This lake offers us a panoramic view of Aravali Mountains.
